Carved Dragon Tagua Nut Necklace

£14.10

A bold dragon design, hand-carved into natural Tagua nut and strung on an adjustable black waxed cotton cord with macramé detailing.

Each piece is individually carved by skilled artisans using traditional methods, then finished and strung in Brighton. The detailed dragon carving gives the pendant a strong, powerful look while staying rooted in natural materials.

This necklace is lightweight, vegan-friendly, and adjustable to fit any neckline — a standout accessory with a story behind it.

Tagua Nut aka "Vegetable Ivory" comes from the Tagua Tree (Ivory Palm) which is found throughout the lowland rain-forests of Ecuador Peru, Columbia and Panama. Only once the fruit has naturally ripened and fallen from the trees can the cluster of nuts inside be collected to be dried for crafting.
This special nut has been used since the 19th century to make buttons, jewellery and carved objects and is a wonderful sustainable natural resource. The Tagua nut trade is an important part of the South American local economy and provides incentive for protecting and maintaining the rain-forest. This incredible nut also gives an ethical and environmentally friendly alternative to the use of plastics and tusk ivory.
Please note- due to natural variation there may be slight differences in each carved nut pendant but we believe that just makes them even more special.

Thanks for looking, take it easy!
